What better way to celebrate #NationalAudubonDay than to reminisce about the fabulous nature tour that professional birder Brian Beckner of Native Bird Boxes led for us earlier this month?
This was our second such tour of the season, and, like the first, it sold out quickly! Brian and his wife Susan outfitted our members with binoculars and birding guides and took them out in golf carts for an informative and fascinating 90-minute tour. During the outing, 23 different species of birds were spotted, including the pileated woodpecker, roseate spoonbill, and loggerhead shrike, and members learned more about the birdhouses that Brian built for our community.
Members, if you missed this season`s tours, don`t worry - more will be on the calendar for next season! We think John Audubon, for whom this "holiday" was created, would approve.
